NAFDAC Workers embarks on Strike over Salary issues

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) workers have embarked on a nationwide indefinite strike over unpaid allowances and salary issues. This strike was directed to take effect at all NAFDAC offices and operation bases nationwide.

The rally started first at their NAFDAC laboratory, Oshodi Lagos announcing the strike and ordered all their Staff to vacate the premises.

The Chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Lagos Area Council, Comrade Ibeh Nwokenta, while addressing newsmen at the agency’s Oshodi office in Lagos, said that any NAFDAC staff found working, including those manning land and sea borders would be dealt with by the union.

He further said the Joint Health Workers strike should be separated from NAFDAC workers strike which, he noted would “continue indefinitely until all demands are met.?”

Corroborating, Mr Ibrahim Attai Isah, Chairman, Medical and Health Workers Union, NAFDAC Chapter said the workers can no longer endure “ we have been patient for too long. The salary structure should be converted to CONHESS, the allowances should be paid. Our workers have been patient enough.” “We have approached them several times and action is yet to taken.” A NAFDAC source who plead anonymity added.
