NECO releases Nov/Dec Results, students improve remarkably compared to past results in English & Maths

National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the Nov/Dec 2014 SSCE results with remarkable improvement when compared to the past results.

It was reported yesterday by the Registrar/ Chief Executive of the Council, Professor Promise Okpala, he said 52.94% of the candidates had Credit in English and 55.37% in Mathematics which is a tremendous improvement from the past years.

“It is important to note that there have been improvements in NECO SSCE results over the past four years. A comparative analysis of the results in English language and Mathematics examinations and those who had five Credits and above including English language and Mathematics from 2011 to 2014 depicts this trend.”

The Registrar said, out of 63,445 that registered for the examinations, 61,386 eventually sat for the examinations with 30.57% recording Credits and above.

According to the analysis by the registrar, who recorded about 620 cases of malpractices, it showed that 53,848 candidates sat for Biology with 26,947 pass credit level, representing 50.04 per cent; Chemistry had 28,250 candidates with 14, 858 pass at credit level, representing 51.62 per cent; 28,222 sat for Physics with 57 pass at credit level, representing 0.20 per cent.

Also, 1,753 candidates sat for Further Mathematics and 395 passed at credit level, representing 22.53 per cent; and Agricultural Science had 41,080 candidates with 12,006 pass at credit level, representing 29.22 per cent.
