According to a reliable source, the father of the former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Joshua Dariye has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen on Saturday night.
The victim, who is said to be in his late 80s, was abducted at his residence in Mushere, Bokkos Local Government area of the state.
According to the report, the kidnappers fired gun shots in the air to scare residents of the area before the victim was abducted and taken to an unknown destination.
The reporters/newsmen gathered that some PDP elders accused the former governor of playing double politics during electioneering campaign in Pankshin Local Government at Nenfur arena.
The police in the state have confirmed the incident. The victim’s son, Senator Dariye, currently represents Plateau Central in the Senate and is seeking re-election .
The politician could not be reached for comments as at press time. But a close associate to the former governor, said he has been told of the incident.

“We have just confirmed that the kidnappers dropped a letter in which they asked for N10 million dollars,’’ Maj. Gen. Dave Enetie, Commander of the Special task Force (STF), maintaining security in Plateau State, told newsmen in Jos on Sunday.
He said that the kidnappers also left telephone numbers to facilitate contacts with the family of their victim.
“We are trying to get a copy of the letter and the phone numbers to help our efforts to secure the release of Dariye’s father,’’ he said.
