This was made known in a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ondo State,, Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, on Wednesday, in Akure, the state capital, that the exit of former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), marks an end to ‘impunity’, which allegedly became rampant under the current administration.
“This action, coming from a personality like him (Chief Olusegun Obasanjo), is unstatesmanlike. His exit marks an end to impunity, unemployment, infringement on human rights, insecurity, corruption and economic backwardness and sabotage, chaired by the ailing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and to those who are opposed to this positive change. They see it as a mere display of frustration from Obasanjo.”
He opined that Obasanjo quitting the PDP had a grave implication on the embattled ruling party, whose fold it claimed was now in shreds, adding that incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan had already bitten the finger that fed him.
“President Jonathan soon after ascending power forgot the finger that fed him. He listened to sycophants surrounding and decided to turn deaf ears to the golden advice of the old man, believing he can do it all alone”, he said.
While urging Jonathan to ensure a credible general election, the party advised that it would be in the interest of the PDP government to start preparing a handover note for the next government of the country.
“He further quoted that, If I were Jonathan, I would do everything possible to promote free and fair 2015 general election and foster unity among Nigerians, and in the remaining days to the expiration of his government, he should diligently be preparing a handover note to General Muhammadu Buhari, honourably, to avoid a hostile reaction from the international community”,
