NDLEA apprehends 2 undergraduates and a mechanic with guns in Bayelsa

 

Report made it known that, the operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Bayelsa State Command, has arrested two students of the Niger Delta University, Amassomma and an auto mechanic in possession of four guns.

The suspects, Mr. Ambakaderemo Tamarakumo, 21; Zuokumo Preye, 20; and Wale Urueberuwa, 20, were arrested recently on the East-West Road end of Bayelsa State.

It was learnt that Tamarakumo and Preye are students of the Bayelsa State-owned NDU while Urueberuwa is said to be a mechanic.

It was further learnt that during preliminary investigation of the three suspected gunmen, they confessed they were not armed robbers but cultists.

The NDLEA in a statement on Thursday said the suspects were apprehended during a stop-and-search patrol along the Bayelsa area of the East-West Road.

It said the three suspects were in a commercial vehicle en route Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, from Ughelli in Delta State.

The agency said, “At the time of their arrest, they were found to be in possession of three locally-made single barrelled pistols and one locally-made double barrelled pistol along with two rounds of live cartridges.”

The agency also said the suspects had been handed over to the police for further interrogation and prosecution.
