As the 23 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors hold an interactive session with the media and civil society organisations in Lagos today, Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has said that seven of the governors had a secret meeting with representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with a view to joining the party.
Though he declined naming the seven governors and where the secret meeting took place, Okorocha said the PDP governors would be welcome to the APC anytime they wished to dump the ruling party.
The Imo State governor said this yesterday at an APC state campaign rally held at the Festac Town, Lagos.
Okorocha said the worst thing that can happen to a country is to have a bad government.
“Today, it is obvious that we have a bad government at the centre. We are for change and the change has started because General Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the March 28 presidential poll has been signed, sealed and delivered.”
He told the crowd, made up of APC faithful and supporters, that those entertaining fears about a Buhari presidency are people whose hands are not clean.
He said: “There should not be fear in the country about Buhari’s presidency because we all know that General Buhari is a gentleman, he is someone who has the fear of God in him. He is an ordinary man like you and me. Those who are entertaining fear are those who have something to hide, they are the people that have enriched themselves by denying millions of Nigerians what ought to be theirs.
