El-Rufai promises to end killings and creates jobs in Kaduna if…

Malam Nasir el-Rufai, Kaduna State governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, in a statement by his Media Aide, Samuel Aruwan on Monday, said he would end killings in southern Kaduna villages and Birnin Gwari if elected.

Aruwan quoted El-Rufai as having made the pledge while speaking on the Freedom Radio programme, Barka da Warhaka in Kaduna.

He said: “He also explained that jobs will be created through the utilization of natural resources and agricultural products that abound in the state.

“El-Rufai said the cultivation, processing and marketing of ginger, which abounds in southern Kaduna, can employ about 500,000 persons.

“Similarly, shea butter from Birnin Gwari can be made to be economically viable.

“El-Rufai was emotional over lingering killings in Southern Kaduna, Birnin Gwari and Giwa areas. He asked how can they be freely killing our people in southern Kaduna areas like Kaura, Sanga, Birnin Gwari and Giwa?

“Who are they and where are they coming from? How can these killers be committing such crimes without being arrested and prosecuted?

“Something is wrong somewhere, part of which is negligence and insensitivity. We will not tolerate it and by the power of Almighty God, we will crush them for maximum security and stability in the state.”

On whether he is bothered by religious blackmail against his candidature, El-Rufai explained: “By the special grace of God, I am not worried because it is a blessing and has exposed those peddling religious and ethnic sentiments as those short of ideas and manipulating religion for election purposes and personal benefits only.

“No matter their manipulation, the people of Kaduna State have rejected their sinister interests.

“What the people of the state need is a government that will be honest and lead with justice to all people irrespective of religion, ethnicity and without sentiment.

“Go and see my record. I have I never compromised merit on religious and ethnic grounds. Is there anyone that I let down because of his or her religion?

“I am guided by merit and competence and above all, social justice as instituted by Almighty God.

“They assume the best way they can stop me is through lies and blackmail, but the people will soon confirm to them that this has failed.”
