Man, Likely To Be Jail For Peeping At Female Co-Tenant In Bathroom

A man named Azeez Adewale, 36-year-old barber’s obsession with his female co-tenant could see him spend time in jail after he was caught peeping at her naked body while she was taking her bath in the bathroom.

Adewale who resides at 23, Arowojobe Street, Oshodi, Lagos, was dragged to an Oshodi Magistrates’ Court for peeping at Victoria Emmanuel on May 17, 2015, when the lady was bathing and if he is convicted, could stay behind bars for up to three years.

According to the prosecutor in the case, Corporal Kehinde Olatunde, Adewale had been harassing Emmanuel(female co-tenant) for a while and had tried severally to get intimate with her and when he could not achieve his aims, he took to peeking at her and also physically assaulting her.

The accused was secretly looking at the complainant when she was bathing. On the day of the incident, the accused was sitting at the passage when the complainant passed with a bucket of water to bath. The accused sneaked and followed her behind; he went to the back of the bathroom where there is a small hole, stood there and was peeping at her while she bathed.

While she was bathing, she sighted someone looking at her through a small hole in the bathroom and she poured soap water on him.

The accused forcefully opened the bathroom door, descended on the complainant by punching her severally on her face, and she quickly shouted for help and neighbours came to her rescue.”

Olatunde also narrated that before the incident, Adewale had attempted to enter the victim’s room late at night, by knocking on her door and begging her to open the door for her as he wanted to deliver a message. “The accused knocked the complainant’s door at midnight begging her to allow him enter, saying that her friend sent him to her. The complainant ignored him, telling him to wait for the day to break.”

Adewale however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail by the Magistrate, Akeem Fashola, in the sum of N50,000, while the case was adjourned till June 8 for mention.
