It was gathered that the #BringBackOurGirls group has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to bring the issue of the abducted Chibok girls to an end, by ensuring that they are rescued or tell the country the current situation of the girls as he is sworn in today.
Speaking at the sit-out of the group yesterday, one of the members, Deji Kolawola, noted that having continuously demanded for results from the Goodluck Jonathan’s regime on the girls and yet, there was no answer, it would be a relief for the group if President Buhari gives a clear report of the status of the remaining 219 girls.
He noted that the transition from one government to another today, will be significant to Nigerians because this election has proven that the citizens are always ready to vote out any government deemed not good enough.
He also stated that the rescue of the Chibok girls will be an advantage to the incoming government, even as he lambasted the Jonathan’s administration for not doing enough to rescue the girls from the beginning of the abduction.
Recall that the group had called on the federal government to release the report of the Presidential Fact-finding Committee on the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls submitted to it over nine months ago but that has not been possible.
Meanwhile, the BBOG has concluded to hold its normal sit-out today to push forward their request for the rescue of the Chibok girls to the new administration.
The group, which had pledged to work with Buhari’s administration on issues concerning the Chibok girls, stated that after joining millions of Nigerians in celebrating Democracy Day, its members will come out to the unity fountain
