No Room For Selfish Ambition In Delta, says new Gov. Okowa

It was reported that Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta said his administration was determined to build a new future for the state and its people.
In doing this, he stated that there would be no room for parochial interests and selfish ambition.
Okowa stated this while addressing people of the state after his inauguration as governor on Friday in Asaba.

He warned that government business would no longer be “business as usual”.
“The future we all seek has no room for parochial interest and selfish ambition but for mutual cooperation and benevolent spirit that recognises ad caters for the yearnings and aspirations of the citizens,” he said.
He assured that he would abide with his oath of office to deliver good governance to the people.
He called on persons jostling for political offices, including elected officials, to brace up to the challenge of building a state that everyone would be proud of, warning that anyone who failed to comply would be dropped.

He thanked God and all the people of the state for making him the governor, assuring that he would govern the state with respect and fear of God.
“I am grateful to God and consider it an honour to stand before you today as your governor.
“In the days, months and years ahead, we should be ready to make hard choices and take tough decisions that are imperative for the prosperity and welfare of our people,” he said.

He assured that his administration would focus and deliver on its five-point agenda tagged “SMART”, which was aimed at job creation, agricultural sector reform, education, health, environment and urban renewal.
The governor told the people that for the government to achieve the targets, it required the collective commitment of everyone and segment in the state.
He promised to work with the Federal government to move the nation forward.
“I look forward to a robust working relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Government.
“We offer our sincere cooperation and partnership for the collective development of our nation,” he said.
