It was reported that a33-year-old man, Azeez Kola, was on Tuesday charged before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stoning a man, Musa Abbass.
Kola, who resides at No. 8, Adeniyi St., Ojuore in Ota, is being tried for assault, breach of peace and conspiracy.
Prosecutor Abdulkareem Mustapha told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on May 13 at about 5.00 p.m. at Iyana-Iyesi, Ota.
Mustapha said the accused and others allegedly conducted themselves in a manner that was capable of causing a breach of the peace.
“The accused assaulted Abbass by inflicting injury on his head with an object suspected to be a stone.’’
He said the offences contravened Sections 249 (d), 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The accused denied the charges.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said one of the sureties must own a developed landed property within the court’s jusrisdiction.
Abimbola the sureties should also show evidence of tax clearance payment in the last one year.
The magistrate directed that the sureties should submit their passport photographs as part of the bail conditions and adjourned the case till June 15 for hearing
