As he prepares for the new English Premier League season with Sunderland, forward Adam Johnson is back in court to continue his trial for his child sex and grooming case.
The 27-year-old was arrested in March on suspicion that he had carnal knowledge of a 15 year-old girl and was later hit with a three count charge of sexual activity with a child under 16, plus one grooming offence.
Johnson appeared today, Monday, August 3 before a judge at Durham Crown Court for a case management hearing ahead of a trial at the end August.
The former Manchester City forward has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Johnson could be involved as Sunderland travel to Leicester City for their first league game of the 2015/2016 season.
