Nine Prisoners freed in Kaduna to mark Independence

Governor Nasir El-Rufai  of Kaduna  State on Thursday  freed nine  prisoners serving various jail terms  in the state to mark the nation’s 55th Independence anniversary.

He also said five convicted prisoners  had their death sentences commuted to various prison terms.

The governor, who stated this at a colourful parade by the army, police, para-military and other security operatives as well as school children,  held at the main bowl of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, noted that the gesture to extend mercy to  the prisoners was in pursuant to section 212 of the Nigerian constitution as conferred on him.

  1. He can free all his boko haram brothers nobody cares…… My problem is innocent people they will come back and kill.

  2. My guess.they are allowed to free people with lesser crime or wrongfully jailed but the hardened hoodlums will be out again to terrorize

  3. Did former Bayelsa governor, Alams not repent from his sins of thievery when he was pardoned by then President Jonathan?
    Omo Ekos raised the greatest dust then.
    .But these are hardened criminals being tossed back to society by governor el-Rufai.
