According to the report, Rachael’s mother died five years ago when she was three months old. She was said to have been under the care of the suspect, whom her father married a few years after.

A concerned neighbor at their residence in Okeore, Atan Ota, in the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of the Ogun state, weekend, was said to have reported the incident at the Onipanu Police Division which led to Kudirat’s arrest.

Confirming the arrest, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, told the Newsmen that the case would be charged to court.

Adejobi said, “The command has no tolerance for inhuman cases of such and will always fish out the culprits.”

Kudirat, an indigene of Abeokuta, the state capital, reportedly told the police that she beat Rachael for being obstinate.

In her statement to the police, she said “She is my stepdaughter and I have been taking good care of her but she is very stubborn. If I give an instruction, she won’t follow it. She is bed-wetting and I have cautioned her several times.

“She is also fond of stealing pieces of meat from the pot of stew. I only beat her with brooms; I don’t use any object on her. I promise not to beat her again,” she added.

  1. Why the hypocrisy? Most people in Nigeria smack their children. Looking after someone else’s child is not an easy thing to do. Although I do not condone child smacking there are other ways of correcting the child, she could wake her up a few times during the night to use the toilet. Also if a child steals food it could be that she wants more and not satisfied.
Please only constructive response and no insults, I have not directed my reply at anyone but rather general, thank you.

  2. I think some of out of sense, what does what happen now got to do with yoruba. For God sake, dis attitude are all with every woman, except d God fearing ones.

  3. I’m very sure DAT dis guy might AV some one of such attitude in his family. If u knw there’s some that mend u n any yoruba together. It’s better u sought it out amicable. N don’t generalised it.thank u.
