The Coordinator of Ikwo South Development Center in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon Marvin Alobu, yesterday escaped mob attack from irate youth in Amagu Community over alleged harassment and wanton destruction of property and livestock belonging to members of the community.
The people have called on Governor David Umahi to intervene into the alleged harassment and intimidation by the Coordinator.
It was gathered that trouble started when the Coordinator went to the market to collect what the youths described as illegal fee imposed on them and allegedly manhandled one of the market woman which angered the youths.
The irate youths who besieged the coordinator threw stones and other dangerous objects at him but following the quick intervention of security personnel at the development, the coordinator would have been lynched by the irate youths.
The youth who were seen chanting war songs described the action of Alobu as inhuman and barbaric stated that they would resist any attempt by the Coordinator to use them to enrich himself.
One of the youths, Mr. Ifeanyi Iteshi, who spoke to Leadership Friday regretted the illegal fees, harassment, intimidation, seizure of community and individual lands among other criminal activities being perpetrated by the coordinator.
