My message not for everybody – Pastor Adeboye replies critics

The General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said his sermons are not for everybody.

The preacher has been a subject of debate on the media for weeks now after he bluntly told singles not to marry women who cannot cook or pray for one hour. The cleric also warned single ladies not to marry jobless men.

Adeboye advised, “Marry a prayer warrior! Don’t marry any girl who cannot pray for one hour non-stop. Don’t marry a girl who is lazy! If she is lazy when she is single, what will happen if she is married?”

In another video, he warned, “Don’t marry a man who has no job. Before God gave Adam Eve, he gave him a job. He said, ‘This is the garden, keep it.’ So when anybody comes to you and say, ‘Sister, thus saith the Lord, you are going to be the star in my firmament,’ ask him — ‘What is your job?’

Apparently reacting to the controversy generated by the message via a Facebook post on Tuesday, Daddy G.O, as Adeboye is fondly called, said his messages were not for everybody.

Adeboye said, “My messages are not for everybody. So, I plead with you, ask God to speak to you specifically.”

  3. Some people have their brain in their anus, siting down on it all the time, no wonder your life is so miserable. In 2016, the world is talking about development, graduate getting a better job, advance of science and technology, improvement in our health service. This man is talking about a woman cooking and prayer warriors! Praying is his job and the church is his office definitely he will keep sheep on chain by saying all those bullshits. Go to the USA, Germany, UK etc where he and his associate always run to for health care, are they saying the same? Please stop destroying the future of our up coming generation just to maintain your empire. This man is wrong, many of us has been fooled and misled. Go to Isreal or Saudi and see how it’s done over there.

  8. Our elders will say that even if you prepare your meal in a groundnut shell, you will still find those who will eat from that shell and be well fed while others will go very hungry! Why are you still criticizing our Pastor. His message is not for you. Keep searching for your own Pastor!

  9. The truth is that jobless men are quite often than not easily upset at home.Everyone seems to be their enemy and with the current recession that the country is undergoing, this tense situation could be worsened if their wives are jobless. Marriage is not ‘i love you, i love you’ but couples are faced with the reality of situations. Marriage carries with it greater responsibilities not only to ones children but also to the extended family members. Pastor Adeboye is right in this regard.

  10. Pastor Adeboye’s message is more appropriate in a counselling session for marrying couples. He should have excused himself that he was not preaching but exercising intellectualism. Paul in his teachings always confessed when he was giving his own opinion and not as directed by the Holy Spirit. Pastor was in the message under reference giving his own opinion, to which he is entitled. It is in this sense that we should comment on messages from Men of God.
