Samson Siasia’s side sealed a 3-2 victory over Honduras in the third place encounter played in Belo Horizonte, after missing out of the final after a 2-0 defeat to Germany.

But the win ensures that Nigeria becomes the fourth country after Hungary and Serbia to win the Olympic football men’s gold, silver and bronze medals and also the first African side to achieve that feat.

The Dream Team VI got the gold medal after their 3-2 victory over Argentina in the 1996 Games staged in the United States of America.

In Beijing 2008, Nigeria had a silver medal to show for their impressive outing, while in Rio they won the bronze medal after surviving Honduras scare.

  1. Maybe just me ,but Nigeria defense is suspect all the time .Work on the back two for the next tournament and keep the crew together. Also the goalkeeper is just average at best.Great midfield and strikers but the defense was less than average
