The 22-year-old who was the pivot in the heart of Nigeria’s Dream Team VI defence at the Olympics revived the Araberne’s chances of winning the action packed derby from two goals down by scoring the leveller in the 45th minute.

After conceding two goals in the first 30 minutes, Haris Hajradinovic scored from the spot in the 36th minute to start the comeback before Troost-Ekong grabbed the equaliser and Kristoffer Haraldseid scored the winner with nine minutes left to play.

The delighted centre back who has been invited for next month’s Afcon qualifier against Tanazania took to his Instagram page to share his excitement after the game.

“Back with a bang! 3 points, a goal and MOTM. That is what derby days are about. So proud of the team! Thanks to our great fans. We are #FKH !!!!!,” he captioned his picture
