Haugesund’s captain William Troost-Ekong has replicated his fine form from the just concluded Olympic Games for Haugesund by netting the equaliser and winning the Man of the Match award in their 3-2 win over Brann in Saturday’s Tippeligaen fixture.
The 22-year-old who was the pivot in the heart of Nigeria’s Dream Team VI defence at the Olympics revived the Araberne’s chances of winning the action packed derby from two goals down by scoring the leveller in the 45th minute.
After conceding two goals in the first 30 minutes, Haris Hajradinovic scored from the spot in the 36th minute to start the comeback before Troost-Ekong grabbed the equaliser and Kristoffer Haraldseid scored the winner with nine minutes left to play.
The delighted centre back who has been invited for next month’s Afcon qualifier against Tanazania took to his Instagram page to share his excitement after the game.
