A musician, Dapo Oyebanjo, better known as “Dbanj- Kokomaster”, had rolled out his latest project tagged “CREAM”, a talent hunt reality show to help young talented Nigerians grow in the creative industry. Oyebanjo did the unveiling at the Federal Palace Hotels in Lagos, Victorian Island, on Friday.
The musician told newsmen on the sidelines of the unveiling that “CREAM means Creative, Reality, Entertainment, Arts and Music. “It is an all encompassing arts platform to help grow the creative ingenuity of the youths in the country. “It should be the key in developing any nation and you cannot allow youths to waste their talent in scheme of things.
“Without creativity, we cannot grow to the level we want in this country and we have to provide a platform for youths to do so. “That is why I want to reward young creative minds in the Nigerian entertainment industry, for their intellectual property to pay them.”
He said that the platform was basically created to reward the tonnes of creative minds that do not have the right platforms to showcase their talent to the world. “Nigeria is filled with so much arts creativity and what better way to promote this great heritage than to give these young minds the right platforms to do so,” he added.
He added that “I am happy to bring the CREAM platform, which is supported by the Bank of Industry (BoI), MTN and D’kings Men Media Ltd, to help these young minds to get to their dream land. “They would provide the creative minds the opportunity to live their dreams of showcasing their talent to the world,” he said.
Oyebanjo, however, said that the reality talent hunt would work only for those using MTN lines, noting that there were five categories to compete for — music, video, collaborations, showcases and showbiz. He said that Showcases have visual arts, poetry, performing arts, fashion, comedy and dance.
He noted that Showbiz has management, marketing and public relations, branding and legal advice, but music, video and collaborations are explicit. He further said that the competition would run once every month and winners would emerge from three categories — music, video, and collaboration.
Three winners would be selected from the draws every first working day of every month, he said. On the other hand, there would be a lottery which the lucky winners would win opportunities to help promote their intellectual properties, including a recording deal of recording a track or shooting of video.
“One can also be a part of multiple categories to increase chances of winning,” he added.
