Governor Wike did not mobilise to rig Edo election – Commissioner

The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Austin Tam-George, said on Friday that Governor Nyesom Wike and his Delta State counterpart, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, did not mobilise to rig the Edo State governorship election.

Tam-George said in a statement in Port Harcourt that claims by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State that the two governors donated N2 billion to rig the election in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party were false.

The commissioner said Wike never made such financial donation. “Governor Wike has no links with militants in the region and anywhere in the country,” he said.

Tam-George said the governor gave moral support to the PDP candidate in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to win the election.

He stated that Wike would continue to give moral support to democratic forces, not just in the region, but across the country, to bring better life to Nigerians.

The commissioner said the governor enjoined Edo State people to vote for the PDP in the election.

The Edo election, earlier scheduled for September 10, was shifted to September 28 by the Independent National Electoral Commission based on a security advice given by the police and the Department of State Services.

  1. I have observed over the years, whenever oshiomhole planned to do something bad , he will quickly accuse opponents of his plan and thereby shifting attention from him. Yeye. ……propaganda
