The Portuguese remonstrated wildly and kicked a bottle in reaction to Paul Pogba being caught out diving by referee John Moss.

Mourinho decided to avoid actually sitting in the Old Trafford crowd, instead choosing to watch the rest of the match from a private room in the stadium.

This is the second game this season that the 53-year-old has been sent to the stands, having also been ordered away from his technical area during the Red Devils’ 0-0 draw with Burnley.

United had actually turned the match around before Mourinho’s outburst, having gone 1-0 down early on thanks to a Diafra Sakho goal.

Pogba combined with Zlatan Ibrahimovic to draw them equal again, with the Swede heading home after his teammate’s pinpoint ball in to the box.

United are in need of a victory over the Hammers after seeing Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal all picking up three points this weekend before they played.
