President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to seek the help of a former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, in resolving the problems of bombing of pipelines in the Niger Delta Region.
The call comes at a time of increased bombing of oil facilities by Niger Delta militants.
A group, the Niger-Delta Deliberators, made up of Niger-Delta professionals and community leaders, called on Buhari to seek the help of Uduaghan to arrest the spate of bombings of oil facilities.
In a press statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the group, Donald Igudia from Delta State, and the Coordinator, Ken Okorodas from Bayelsa State, the group stated that most Niger Delta indigenes are clamoring for the former Governor of Delta State to help the Federal Government salvage the oil industry by engaging the militants in a genuine dialogue to end the bombings. They also said Uduaghan is one man whose constant engagement with militants on several occasions as Secretary to State Government and Governor yielded great results.
They further stated that the Federal Government committee on resolving the Niger Delta crisis should be headed by Uduaghan. They pointed out that the former Governor understands the psychic of the youths of the Niger Delta and the Niger Delta terrain very well.
They called on the former Governor to still continue to serve the people through his wealth of experience by helping the current Government to end pockets of crises in the Niger Delta region and the Nation in general.
They further advised the people of Delta South Senatorial District of Delta State to project Uduaghan as their representative in the Senate for quality representation in 2019. The group equally encouraged Niger Deltans to support the anti-corruption crusade of President Buhari, stating that corruption is one of the major factors that has kept the Niger Delta region under-developed for so long.
