Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil could be in trouble with Spanish authorities for unpaid tax on income from his time with Real Madrid, according to reports.
The Germany international made a £42million switch from Real to Arsenal back in 2013, and has been known for his superb on-pitch performances alongside keeping a low profile off it.
However, Ozil may now be in hot water for some suspicious financial management involving his company Ozil Marketing, whose income went unnoticed in Spain until 2014, according to El Confidencial, citing Football Leaks and Der Spiegel.
Ozil has done his business through Ozil Marketing since 2008, but has seemingly provided Spanish authorities with insufficient information on the company’s income and dealings.
It is also claimed that the former Real Madrid man was asked in 2014 to appear for a hearing relating to these matters, though he and his advisors failed to show up.
The 28-year-old could now be subject to an investigation for financial matters throughout his career, including since moving to Arsenal.
