After showing up in the sky at the Borgu Air Force Base at about 11.42am, the Control Tower at the base described the weather as hazy and did not give clearance for the plane to land.

Consequently, after hovering in the sky for more than 20 minutes, the Senate President’s jet was forced to return to Abuja to the amazement of his host, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abduallhi, representing Niger North senatorial district, Senator Rafiu Adebayo and other top politicians in Niger State, who had waited for Saraki’s arrival for close to 2 hours.

Military personnel on ground at the air field were seen making frantic phone calls to their colleagues at the Control Tower, who eventually confirmed the Presidential Jet’s de-tour to the nation’s capital after several efforts to land on Borgu land failed due to the hazy weather.

Saraki was billed to be the Special Guest of Honour at the 1st Barade Empowerment of Constituents for Poverty Alleviation and Employment put together by Senator Sabi Abdullahi, who is the Senate spokesman and the traditional title holder of Barade of Borgu Kingdom.

However, the programme thereafter kick-started with Senator Adebayo representing the Senate President at the well-attended occasion which held at the popular Jahi Ground in New Bussa.
