Fears are growing that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez could both leave Arsenal, with the stars reportedly way short in their wage valuations.
According to the London Evening Standard, Ozil, said to be earning £140,000-a-week, and Sanchez, on £10,000 less, are both wanting to earning the same amount as Paul Pogba at Manchester United.
The Frenchman is on a reported £290,000-a-week as part of his world-record transfer from Juventus in the summer, but the Gunners are only currently prepared to offer the superstar duo £200,000-a-week, which is already £40,000-a-week more than what Arsene Wenger feels should be the absolute limit of what any player should earn.
With just 18 months left on both Ozil and Sanchez’s deals, a tense stand-off could lead to a very nervy summer with a whole host of European giants ready to pounce on the stalling contact negotiations.
In September, Sanchez was quoted by Spanish daily newspaper Sport as saying: “I have reached a level where I can compete with great players. I do not feel inferior to anybody.”
