Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has urged Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to think about more than money when signing new contracts.
The duo are currently in negotiations with the Gunners over new deals, with their current contracts running out at the end of next season.
With both Sanchez and Ozil vital to the north Londoners’ chances both domestically and in Europe, fan are understandably growing uneasy over the wait for them to put pen to paper.
However, Wenger insists that this is normal, and that the club is in negotiations with both players over new deals.
‘The luxury in the modern game should be that it is not only about money. Players make good money wherever,’ the Frenchman said ahead of their game with Basel when asked about the duo.
‘We are in negotiations, yes, because the players are one-and-a-half years away. It is normal.’
This may not be what some Gooners are keen to hear, with many supporters urging the club to splash the cash to keep their best players at the Emirates.
However, they may take heart from the fact that their manager is yet to be panicked over the ongoing situation.
