Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has joked that he may never let Paul Pogba take a free kick again after he missed v Tottenham.
The France international hit the crossbar against Spurs, and the striker revealed that just before it was taken he had told his teammate he better score or he’d never let him have another one again.
Luckily for the midfielder, the former PSG man was only joking, and Red Devils supporters can likely look forward to seeing their record signing take a few more set pieces in the future.
‘I said to Paul: ‘You’d better shoot in the goal because it’s the last free-kick I will give you’,’ Ibrahimovic told MUTV.
‘He Pogba shoots against the crossbar and, if it would go in, it gives you more space, not to calm down, but you feel more confident when you are 2-0 up because you never know after the last games where we were conceding goals in the end.’
In the end it didn’t matter, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s goal enough for Jose Mourinho’s side to see off the north Londoners at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The victory leaves them six points off fourth placed Manchester City in sixth, and now building some momentum during the busy Christmas period.
