Alberto Toril admits there were certain things he “did not like” about working with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid but says he also “learned a lot”.
Toril experienced a bumpy ride when he worked as the Real Madrid Castilla coach for two years under the Portuguese boss at the Bernabeu.
There were eports of disagreements between the pair over youth development at the time before Toril was sacked by president Florentino Perez in the middle of the season.
And now Toril, who is manager at Elche, has lifted the lid on what it is like to work under “one of the best coaches” in the world.
“He [Mourinho] was very extremist – either you were his friend or you were his enemy,” he told Onda Cero .
“I always speak well of him as he is a great coach. There were personal things I did not like, but I learned a lot.
“He is one of the best coaches I have seen in the way he works and plans. His style of football you can like more or less.”
