Chelsea defender David Luiz has revealed that it was his love for the club that made him move back to Stamford Bridge.
Luiz, who won the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup during his first stint at Chelsea, was sold to Paris-Saint Germain for £50million after four seasons at the club.
However, after two years away from west London, Luiz returned to Chelsea after Antonio Conte’s team stumped up £34m to bring the Brazil international back to the Premier League.
‘I am a lucky player, I was living in Paris and now I’m back in London, so I can’t complain, my life is great,’ Luiz told Sky Sports
‘Paris was also amazing for me. I spent two years there and I was winning a lot. But I decided to come back,’ he added.
‘I have in my personality (leadership qualities); I like to organise, I try to be a leader in the dressing room too,’ the Brazilian defender continued.
‘I try to help my team-mates and the club – that’s why I came back.
‘I love the club, because I had the opportunity, because I think it was my purpose to come back.
‘Decisions in football happen quickly. When Chelsea came to me and said they wanted me to come back I was happy because I had a special moment here – one of the best in my career.’
