The altercation caused some tumult between them as she insisted on checking his phone. Kunle (restricted her movement using his shoulder as a defence) shielded her by raising his shoulders high. Kemi began ranting on top of her voice at Kunle, her anger was fully unleashed. Kunle, as a matured man ignored her and continued playing with his phone.

Kemi: ‘’ Can’t I know who called right now? Huh?’’

Kunle refused answering the question, and kept mute.

Kemi: ‘’Talk, you this shameless man!’’

She went to the kitchen and brought out a knife, from one of the cabinet. She pointed the knife at him as she began to scream on top of her voice. They say, Silence is the best answer, and Kunle used that weapon despite her ranting; that aggravated her the more and she began to weep as he would not reply her questions. Kunle laid on the cushion, and shot back at her:

Kunle: ‘’ Must you know who calls me?’’

Kemi: ‘’Yes. It’s my responsibility because am your legal wife’’

Kunle: ‘’Huh! Legal, what?’’

Kemi: ‘’ Wife! Wife!!! You get that? ‘’

With her guttural voice she screamed at Kunle

Kunle: ‘’Can you stop this your madness? Moreover, have you taken your pills?’’

She looked at him with all depression, as she brandished the knife. She later ran to the plastic table where Kunle dropped his laptop. She carried the laptop and threatened to throw it on the tiles. Where he sat, he sighted the open drawer and found that large quantities of his printing papers, his books, his notepad, his radio transistor, his old dusty TIME and ECONOMIST magazines, and a book he valued called: Why we struck, were all missing. He beckoned at Kemi who refused coming closer, she felt guilty of the deeds. She ignored, and stared at the almanac of long mystic on the wall.

Kunle: ‘Am I talking to somebody?’’

Kemi: ‘’ I can’t hear. Because I was busy counting days for your dismiss. You this uncultured man’’

Kunle: ‘’Are you serious? You mean you are counting days for your father’s burial. Rubbish! You this wayward woman’’

Kemi: ‘’ You should respect me. Remember I cook your meal?’’

Kunle: ‘’Oh. Now, I see the reason why you are so serious knowing the caller, your intention of killing me won’t work. God won’t accept that from you’’ She chuckled.

Kemi: ‘’ You can think that way, I do mine for true love and Christ sake’’

Kunle: ‘’ Ehen, I’m happy to tell you that Christ doesn’t work with hypocrites and deceitful people like you. You are deceitful. Since we met you never encourage me to pray once, all you want is nothing but sex and money’’

Kemi: ‘’ I think your mother will be good in that. Tell her to take you to church and the clergyman will pray for you. Whereas, it the responsibility of all parents to bring their children to God. But for your own case, your mother was being acquainted to all men’’

Kunle: ‘’ You don’t need to throw word at my mother. It seems you don’t know prayer is Key. The word of God is not myth. And the nature of existence is mystic to we the children of Adam’’

Kemi: ‘’Please, spare me from this your gospel. You need to be Apostle Paul companion or maybe that why you keep secret from me’’

Kunle: ‘’ Can’t I have a chance to keep my own secret? Dear, don’t be too sarcastic on this issue’’

Kemi: ‘’ I swear, when you tell me the truth I know you are pretending because truth is far from your mouth’’

Kunle looked at her, walked to the refrigerator and opened it. He took the chilled Heineken Beer and drank with pleasure. Somewhere in him he felt the pain of her words. He peeked on the kitchen ceiling; nodded before he threw the Heineken bottle inside the dust-bin. He marched to the room in melancholy. He staggered, and fell on the ground, and began to disgorge the beer on his black Nike short-sleeve. The contents of his bowels stunk like oral malodour. Suddenly, she noticed him, and was irritated by the repugnant smell; also she spewed saliva as she bent to clean up the mess. She muttered, as she helped to clean his vomit with her wrapper. When she finished, Kunle was exhausted and helpless.

Kemi: ‘’ Will you use the Alzheimer pills?’’

Kunle began to look at her quizzically. His eyes were scary, and he trembled with shivers. His tremulous condition perplexed her. She dipped her hands inside her filthy Louis Vuitton bag and brought out an amulet which contain local antidote. She grabbed his hand, opened and poured the antidote. Forcefully, she put his hand toward his mouth; and the attempt failed, as the antidote poured on his moustache and bristle. She made a fuss over Kunle; and began to fidget.

Kemi: ‘’ What is wrong with you, tell me?’’

Kunle became clumsy and unsure of himself. He coughed. But Kemi’s eyes were on him, later he strangled himself with laughter.

Kunle: ‘’ Now I know you have the effrontery to die for me. I know you love me but I don’t know how passionate I’m to you?’’

Kemi: ‘’Why are you pretending?’’

Kunle: ‘’ That is part of love’’

She screamed at him like a rabid dog with sinews; when she realized that Kunle was being pretentious.

Kemi: ‘’ Is it because you don’t want to tell me the caller that’s why you pretend to have convulsion or what? This act is childish.’’

Kunle’s laughter ended in a gasp.

Kunle: ‘’I’m sorry’’

Kemi: ‘’Okay, but who called you?’’

Kunle: ‘’My client. I will give you the gist when we proceed’’

They grasped at each other’s mouths as lips glued in a steaming kiss. When her phone rang, she looked at the phone, and discovered it was a message. She quietly sneaked outside through the kitchen’s door and opened the message with tenacity. She glanced, and she noticed the message had notorious content, and her pose changed before she began to read in whispers:

As her mouth was following the text words for words, letter for letter, Kunle tip toed and stood behind her peering into the phone with curiosity after reading she pressed a button on the phone and it went blank. As she turned to go into the room she was face to face with her husband who gave her an expressionless stare. The small eyes became bulgy as stupefaction gaped at her- she was in total shock.
