Jose Mourinho believes Paul Pogba has stepped up his level of performance in recent weeks because he’s using his brain more.
The Manchester United boss splurged £89million on the France international in the summer, making him the world’s most expensive player.
Pogba played as if he was at that level today, winning 100% of his tackles and aerial duels in the first half of a 2-0 win against Watford, while also completing 100% of his take-ons.
The 23-year-old’s recent displays have not been lost on his manager, who marvelled at how the midfielder is playing.
And he also offered a suggestion as to what he’s changed in recent weeks.
‘Paul is playing with great balance, great balance these last two matches,’ he said after the victory against Watford.
‘He’s playing with his brain, he’s recovering lots of balls, he’s been very good in his position play.’
