It was gathered that the new United Nations Industrial Development Organisation Representative to ECOWAS and Regional Director, Nigeria Regional Office Hub, Mr. Jean Bakole, has pledged to improve collaboration with stakeholders to achieve his mandate.
A statement by the Media and Communication Expert for UNIDO Nigeria, Chukwuemeka Ezekiel, on Tuesday, stated that Bakole made this known upon assuming office after his appointment by the Director-General, UNIDO, Mr. Li Yong.
According to Bakole, the success of UNIDO projects in Ethiopia, where he served, would be replicated in Nigeria as part of the implementation of the inclusive and sustainable industrial development initiative.
Speaking on his appointment and the new position, Bakole said, “As an African, who has equally worked in a similar capacity before as the UNIDO Representative to the African Union and Regional Director to Ethiopia for many years, I am excited to be here in Nigeria.
“Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa, as well as the most populous country in Africa. These present bigger opportunities for UNIDO to make greater impact in terms of supporting inclusive and sustainable industrial development. Personally, with my experience in successfully implementing UNIDO’s impactful projects in Ethiopia, I believe that UNIDO can make more impact in Nigeria, working together with the government, development partners and all other stakeholders.”
