It was gathered that the Oyo State chapter of Accord Party has alleged that some “disgruntled elements” are allegedly being sponsored by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to destabilize the party.
The party maintained that those elements had “taken their desperation to serve their alleged paymasters in the APC to the level of claiming to be Accord members after their defection to APC.
In a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Engineer Akeem Olatunji, and made available to Newsmen on Friday in Ibadan, Accord party said despite all intrigues and plans to frustrate the party, it was fully ready to slog it out with the ruling party in the next local government election.
The statement reads, “There is no reason for any sane mind to continue to respond to the continuous advertisement of political insanity for APC members to be masquerading as Accord members.
“Going by the judgement delivered by Justice Olagunju of Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, Accord as a party under the leadership of Alhaji Wahab Oyelade led executives has no faction whatsoever while the court described the application filed by the alleged APC agents who challenged the congress that produced the party executives as lacking in merit while all questions posed were answered in the negative with the results that the reliefs are refused. The originating summons was accordingly dismissed by the High Court.
“However, Accord is accusing the Oyo State Government of using some political nonentities to spread falsehood in the party.
“Accord will continue with preparations for local government elections in case Governor Ajimobi stop his undemocratic imposition of Caretaker Chairmen at the local councils.
“The party’s profound gratitude to Senator Rashidi Ladoja, the National Leader of Accord who despite all odds refused to be distracted despite the campaign of calumny against his person.
“Anyone that feels he or she could distract the leadership of Alhaji Wahab Oyelade led executives will have the shock of their lives because the party is not bothered as we set eyes on rescuing Oyo State and her citizens from the clueless, hopeless and economy quagmire the APC government in Oyo State subjected the entire citizenry.”
Olatunji in the statement then assured over 2,500 new members of the party who recently defected from APC and PDP “that their coming at a time the APC moles were shown the way out is a confirmation that Accord is the darling party to an average Oyo State citizens.”
Olatunji maintained that “Accord leaders in Oke-Ogun under the leadership of Engineer Ahmed Gbadamosi has also debunked Engineer Olaniyan’s false claim as the financier of the party in zone.”
He described Olaniyan as an attention seeker and a paperweight who could not win his polling booth, his ward and local government for Accord.
He maintained that “Accord in Oyo State hereby appreciates the supports of our party’s State House of Assembly members, Hon Nureni Adisa, National Secretary of Accord, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Arc. Bashir Lawal, Hon Bayo Lawal, Hon. Bimbo Adepoju, Alh Abidikugu, Chief Laoye 1st State Vice Chairman, Chief Mrs Tegbe Second State Vice Chairman; Dr Nureni Adeniran State Secretary; Alh Bola Akinyemi State Admin Secretary; the Chairman of Accord LG Chairmen Alh Ramon Babalola; and other leaders for their steadfastness.
“Accord in Oyo State is hereby sympathising with the Oyo State civil servants, local government workers, teachers and pensioners for the non payment of their entitlements as they celebrates Easter festival on empty stomachs.
“Accord is imploring Gov Ajimobi led APC government to reconsider his government attempt to stampede the pensioners to forfeit 40% of their entitlements. This is uncalled for, it’s ungodly, callous and wickedness on the part of the government.”
However, spokesperson of APC, Olawale Sadare in a reply to an SMS sent to him by our correspondent said “Accord is like an igloo which cannot survive an intense sunshine. As much as we, at the APC, desire a virile opposition for the good of democracy, it is time our people began to look elsewhere as PDP or Accord cannot be the option in view of the corrupt legacy left behind by their leaders when they were in power.
“If it is true they identified some moles in their mist, why not expel them. Do we have time for such time wasting activities? Certainly not!”
