Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, has stated that the current anti-corruption war was necessary to secure the future of Nigeria.
In an interview in Abuja, he described as barbaric the extent to which the nation’s economy was looted by politicians.
Wondering how the system was operated in a criminal manner, he said, discoveries of huge sums of money showed that some political leaders involved in looting would have created untold hardship for generations unborn, adding that people must join hands with government to reduce corruption by force.
He said: “People must be happy having the like of President Muhammadu Buhari waging war against corruption, which is meant to sanitise the system for us and generation yet unborn to realise their dreams.
Anti-corruption must be supported by all because if one refuses to kill corruption, it will definitely cripple the nation to the extent that there will not be a country called Nigeria again”.
He commended the upper legislative arm for championing local government autonomy, saying that the third arm of government would fare better at the grassroots if autonomy was granted.
That the leadership of upper legislature in the land took it upon itself in championing local government autonomy shows there is hope for the future”, he noted.
