Rivalry among Igbos, Yorubas causing Hausa/Fulani dominance – FFK

In what seems to be a reply to the Eze Ndigbo’s attack on yorubas as been hypocrites, the Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has come out to explain that the rivalry between the Igbos and the Yorubas  have been the source of strength for the Hausa/Fulani people in Northern Nigeria.

Recall that the leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, yesterday warned the South easterners against being carried away by the recent solidarity they are getting from the Yorubas.

The group went further to describe them as hypocrites, who did everything to exterminate the Igbo race during the Civil War.

MASSOB was reacting to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu’s visit to Fani-Kayode’s home in Abuja few days after his release from prison.

However, in what could be a reaction to MASSOB statement, the former Minister wrote via @realFFK, his twitter handle, “Division, Suspicion, acrimony and unhealthy rivalry between the Igbo and Yoruba is the oxygen that gives strength to Northern hegemony.”

  1. I totally agree with FFK. Regardless of all that has transpired between the Igbos and the Yorubas, we need to rebuild the bridge now or else this northern ambush will assume far more devastating dimension. The Igbos must accept that to err is human and put aside all that they harbor against the Yorubas and vice versa. There’s no doubt that physiologically, culturally, psychologically, etc. the Ibos share a lot in common with the Yorubas when compared with fundamental attributes of people of the North. It is also true that the North understands this natural chemistry relationship for the South and would do anything and everything to spoil it and remain better off for that.
Let a word be enough for the wise!

  2. This is the greatest bullocks I have ever seen. Rivalry for where? Let us say all igbos were robots manufactured. Go back to 1960 and 1964…. who did the “igbos” vote for? In 1979 who did the “igbos” vote for? When the “yoruba” was left alone to fight for political power against the North (that they claimed was illiterate and backwards) which was brought in by “igbo” vote.

I use “Igbo” reluctantly but with the view of putting tribe in their warped reasoning. Every yoruba and igbo have minds of their own.

    • Unfortunately Ade, being too harsh, insolent, sentimental and selfish in your outbursts and expression in this matter is the very attitude that needs to be expunged from progressives. Whatever be your grouse, let it also be known to you that if you give the igbos the same opportunity you will be amazed at some unprintable facts and grudges they hold against the yorubas. So people like you cannot bell the cat in this case and so your views are not the type needed at this time!
