Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction recognized by the Supreme Court and the Sheriff faction sacked by the court are now battling for the control of the Ogun state party secretariat at Kuto in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Alhaji Sikirulah Ogundele who heads the faction reportedly backed by the Ahmed Makarfi caretaker committee recognized by the apex court, and Engineer Adebayo Dayo who leads the alleged pro-Sheriff state executive committees are both laying claim to the party secretariat.
Both claimed they are the authentic state executive committee recognized by the Makarfi-led caretaker committee of the party.
Speaking with Rockcity FM, Ogundele promised to lead members of his group into the state secretariat, after attending the next week meetings of PDP expanded national executive council convened by Senator Ahmed Makarfi.
Ogundele who claims to have an order of an Abeokuta High Court, said the Police and Department of Security Services will be instructed to enforce the Supreme Court’s order recognizing his faction, and eject the pro-Sheriff Adebayo Dayo state executive from the secretariat.
But the Adebayo Dayo faction at the end of the stakeholders meeting of the party held at the state secretariat in Abeokuta told Rockcity FM that his state executive is recognized by the Makarfi caretaker committee, and that the Supreme Court verdict has no effect on the state chapter led by him.
