Kebbi State Police Command has arrested Dantani, a 45 years old man, for allegedly raping a nine-year-old boy to death in Zauro town of the state.
Also arrested were two men, Ibrahim and Yohana, for allegedly raping girls aged 10 and 12, in different villages at Kalgo and Zuru local governments areas of the state.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim M. Kabiru, who confirmed the arrests yesterday, while addressing a press conference, said: “On the July 31, 2017, at about 14:00hrs, one Abubakar, in a village in Kalgo LGA, reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kalgo, that his daughter, a 12-year-old, went to the bush to cut grass for the animals and was sexually molested by Malam Ibrahim.
“One Mohammed, in a village in Zuru LGA, Kebbi State, reported at Zuru Police Station that one of his daughters, a 10-year-old, was raped by Yohana Mudi, 25 years old, while rearing goats.”
The commissioner said the suspected rapists had been arrested and would be charged to court.
Speaking on the man said to have raped a boy to death, the police commissioner said: “One Dantani Sani, 45, of Sabon Gari area of Zauro town, was arrested based on information that he had sexual intercourse with one Ibrahim Muhammadu Dangi, male, now deceased, aged nine years, of the same village, against the order of nature.”
The police commissioner said the suspect would be charged to court for culpable homicide.
Similarly, the police disclosed that their men arrested seven armed robbers, two notorious Benin Republic highway robbers and two kidnappers, who were terrorising residents of Bagudu, Wasagu-Ribah, Maiyama, Birnin Kebbi areas and snatching motorcycles and cars in the areas.
The police also confirmed the arrest of two fake soldiers who planned to defraud the governor’s wife. He named the suspects as a ‘Lieutenant’ Nasiru Abubakar Bako and his ‘orderly,’ Hussaini Umaru, who claimed to be of the Nigeria Army.
He also revealed that fertilizers fraud syndicates, led by one Hassan Arsika from Futua town, Katsina State who claimed to be commissioner for agriculture, director, store keeper and messenger to the Ministry of Agric, Kebbi State had been arrested, adding that a banker, Thomson Ongaji, who allegedly defrauded a female customer of N5 million, in pretence of buying Treasury Bill, for has been arrested and would be charge to court.
