Antonio Conte was left red-faced on Sunday after he missed Alvaro Morata’s goal while complaining to the fourth official about a decision which favoured Chelsea.
The Spanish striker scored the second Chelsea goal as the Blues took command of their Premier League meeting with Everton. The £60million summer signing headed past Jordan Pickford in the 40th minute after a fine cross from Cesar Azpilicueta.
But in the build-up to the goal there was a clear foul on Willian on the edge of the box.
Despite the excellent opportunity a free-kick in that position would have created for the home side, referee John Moss played the advantage.
Conte didn’t believe it favoured his side, so the animated Italian went about furiously berating the fourth official.
But as he did so, Morata scored, thus proving Moss made the right call while simultaneously making Conte look very silly.
Despite the embarrassment for Conte, overall he will have been delighted to see Morata find the back of the net at the end of a first half Chelsea totally dominated.
