Just In: Kaduna pupils embark on protest against El-Rufai move to sack teachers

Primary and secondary school students around Sabon Tasha, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Tuesday embarked on a protest against the State Government over plans to sack thousands of teachers.

Governor Nasir el-Rufia had earlier declared that he would replace over 21, 000 teachers who failed the competency test recently conducted by the state government and replace them with new 25, 000.

Pupils of Local Education Authority, Kawo, Kaduna North Local Government area had on Monday started the protest.

  1. All these stage-managed protests, if not tell me how Pupils that the government want to rescue from the clutches of Ignorance, aka “illiterate teachers” will be “protesting”? But the Pupils parents and guardians should advice the children appropriately, except they are also playing politics with the future and lives of their wards!

  2. The act of making 60% as pass mark is nothing but sheer wickedness. At global level, 50% is always the pass mark. Even competitive exams like ACCA, ICAN, ICAEW and legal education exams are bench-marked at 50%.
