Bomb blast kills five at bus station in north Nigeria (Bauchi State)

Five people were confirmed dead on Thursday while 12 others sustained injuries following a bomb blast that occurred at a motor park at Azare town, Katagum Local Government Area in Bauchi State.

The explosion caused panic and anxiety among residents of the area who scamper for safety.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed disclosed that the five persons were burnt beyond recognition, and the injured victims were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare for medical attention.

The PPRO further added that all the corpses have been evacuated to the mortuary.

He added that the entire surrounding has been cordoned off and the scene secured by the Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit from the Command headquarters, Bauchi.

He said no arrest has been made but investigation had commenced to ascertain the cause of the incident.
