The Reigning African Queen of the Tracks, Blessing Okagbare will be getting married to former Super Eagles Player and 3-time capped Super Eagle’s player, Jude Igho Otegheri, today in her home town, Sapele in Delta State.
Considering the Nigerians’ track and field history, Okagbare is the country’s most successful sprinter of all time. Since she broke into limelight in the mid 2000s, Okagbare has won numerous medals for the country, both in the jump and sprint events. She was the cynosure of all eyes at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, where she won both 100m and 200m gold medals for Team Nigeria
The International Sprinter said Marriage won’t take her away from the tracks just yet, “Getting married won’t stop me from doing the usual things on the track, I am anxiously looking forward to my wedding day, and thereafter, i will continue to work hard so as to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians as long as my body allows me to run and jump”. She assured that tying the marital knot would not affect her plans for the Rio 2016 Olympics and other athletics events.
The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Sport Minister Tammy Danagogo and Athletic Federation of Nigeria President, Chief Solomon Ogba are some of the dignitaries expected.
