Two bombs exploded, one after the other, in the premises of the Grand Mosque, few seconds after the prayers had started . This seems to be same Mosque where Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido usually leads prayers but there’s no valid report to confirm that The Emir, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, was inside when the explosions went off.
It will be remembered that at Kano’s grand mosque last week, Emir Sanusi charged northerners to take up arms to defend themselves against the Boko Haram sect, and he expressed his doubt in the ability of Nigeria’s military to protect the citizens and halt insurgency.
The Emir of Kano is highly influential in Nigeria generally, and in the North especially. He is the number two cleric, second after the Sultan of Sokoto.
