Katsina State is declared polio free says Dr. Aliyu, Health Care Chairman


The Executive Chairman of Katsina State Primary Health Care, Dr. Muawiyya Aliyu confirmed recently that Katsina State is polio free. According to Dr. Aliyu the suspected Polio case reported at Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, is false, adding that the state has not recorded any Polio case in the last 30 months.

He said: “Katsina State is still polio free. We only recorded one case of circulating Vaccine Derived Virus (cVDPV). This is not same as a crippling, dangerous wild polio virus.” Meanwhile, officials are currently carrying out immunization exercise in seven local government areas of the state, which includes: Bindawa, Rimi, Mani, Kankia, Ingawa, Kusada, and Chiranchi LGAs.
