John Hartson believes it would be a clever move to welcome Thierry Henry back to the Gunners by Manager Arsene Wenger. A report came that the former France international, Henry announced his departure from New York Red Bulls on Monday after four-and-a-half years with the Major League Soccer club.
Henry revealed he would be interested in a return to Arsenal with a coaching role at the Barclays Premier League club a possibility, and Hartson feels it would be a wise move by Wenger.
‘Thierry is an inspirational figure who would be a role model for the younger players at the club,’ Hartson told the BBC.
‘I think it would be a masterstroke if Arsene Wenger got him back. ‘He is a legend at the club, their record goalscorer and has a wonderful relationship with Wenger.’
Henry won two Premier League titles with Arsenal and was a part of their ‘Invincibles’ team that went unbeaten for the entire season a decade ago.
Wenger admitted Henry would ‘certainly’ return to the Emirates someday, but that he did not know what role the Frenchman will take up yet.
