It was reported that Police detectives in Agbor, Ika South local government area of Delta State, on Sunday killed two robbery suspects and arrested one of their gang members.
The gang has been terrorizing the community in recent times.
Police public relations officer in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, in a press release, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent, said a police sergeant attached to Agbor Police Division, while returning from night duty, ran into the armed robbers operating with a motorcycle and robbing residents around the old Asaba/Lagos road. He added that another set of robbers in Peugeot 406 car were also operating at another area.
DSP Kalu said that the robbery suspects were confronted by a police patrol team which engaged them in a gun battle, during which two of the robbers were shot dead and one arrested, while others fled.
Kalu said that items recovered from the robbers include three cut-to-size guns and four live cartridges, adding that efforts were being made to track down the fleeing suspects.
