It was gathered that, Kaduna State Government at the weekend suspended the principal, Government Secondary School, Samaru Kataf, for allegedly conniving with a contractor to excavate laterite within the school.
The commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr Shehu Usman Adamu, announced the suspension while briefing newsmen on developments in the education sector in the state.
Adamu explained that the principal was suspended for allegedly conniving with a contractor for monetary compensation to excavate sand from the school’s football pitch to build a filling station, without the knowledge of the ministry
He said that the football field had been destroyed and turned into a gully, thereby preventing students from using it for the meant purpose, describing it as an of act of sabotage.
“This is an act of sabotage, particularly from a principal who is supposed to protect government property under his care.
“We got wind of the deal when the contractor refused to pay the principal what they had bargained for,’’ Adamu said.
He said the principal would remain suspended until investigations into the matter is concluded, adding that if found guilty, he would be prosecuted accordingly.
