CSKA Moscow have emerged champions or Russia again, after they defeated Rubin Kazan 1-0 on Saturday. Alan Dzagoev scored the all-important goal for CSKA in the 19th minute of the match.
Leonid Slutsky’s men had to hold on in the end, knowing that if they drew the game, it would hand the title to Rostov, because of the head-to-head record.
It is CSKA’s third title in four seasons and all have come udner Slutsky’s leadership. Runners-up Rostov, who beat Terek Grozny 2-0, go into the Champions League qualifying rounds. Dethroned champions Zenit head for the Europa League.
