Ogunbote was selected out of a total of four high profile coaches including Okey Emordi and Zachary Baraje.
Shooting Stars General Manager, Rasheed Balogun, had Wednesday said that they would appoint a new coach on Thursday (today) morning.
“Yes, we’ve appointed Gbenga Ogunbote as our new coach,” Shooting Stars spokesman, Jubrin Arowolo confirmed on Thursday morning.
“As we speak now, I’m standing right behind him as he addresses the players at our training ground.”

Shooting Stars are faced with relegation struggles, sitting 18th in the Premier League table.
Ogunbote has had managerial spells at Sharks, Gateway United amongst other top clubs.
His first stint at the Ibadan club was during the week 9 window of the 2013/2014 season when the club was passing through a downturn in league fortunes.
He quit the job before the start of the current campaign following a move to FC Giwa of Jos.
After his appointment on Thursday morning, Ogunbote went straight to business after addressing the players before their morning training session.
