No fewer than nine persons died on Friday in an accident in Lagos.
The accident occurred at Fadeyi area on the ever busy Ikorodu Road.
It involved a commercial bus and a heavy duty truck.
Nine persons in the bus died.
Ten of the occupants of the Toyata Hiace bus, with registration number Katsina KT 715YG, also sustained injuries.
The commercial bus was said to be overs peeding when he lost control and hit a culvert.
The vehicle, it was gathered, veered off the road and somersaulted, ramming into a heavy duty truck marked Lagos GGE 715 YG.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Michael Akindele, confirmed the development.
Akindele said the accident was caused by carelessness.
He said: “A total number of nine people lost their lives in the incident.
“Five adult (four male and a female) and four children (two male, two female).
“Ten others sustained injuries and were taken to the Emergency Trauma Centre at the Toll Gate.
“Drivers should be cautious and avoid over speeding as well as comply with road traffic code to prevent unnecessary accident leading to loss of lives.”
