Commending President Muhammadu Buhari for fulfilling his campaign promise to the Ogoni people, the Traditional Ruler of Ogoniland, His Royal Majesty, King GNK Giniwa, said the Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, disappointed them.
Speaking at the launch of the clean up of Ogoniland and other impacted communities in the Niger Delta, king Giniwa said Jonathan failed in his campaign promise to the Ogoni people.
The King who spoke on behalf of Ogoni communities said “my answer to Jonathan was clean Ogoniland and the people will be happy with you but he failed.”
He thanked God for sending Buhari to their rescue, saying “since jonathan could not do what he promised the Ogoni people, I was courageous enough during the campaign, I thank God for saving us. I want to thank Buhari for what he has done for the Ogoni land, he did not fail in his campaign promise.”
Recall that the report on Ogoniland by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) was submitted to the previous administration in 2011 but was not implemented.
